MIC move to unite Indians for better bargaining power with Malaysian govt.

Kuala Lumpur June 22 (ANI): In a bid to strengthen MIC’s base in Malaysia, the party is spearheading a move to unite the Indian community to build stronger bonds and bargaining power with the Government.
“The time and political situation in the country demand that we (Indians) unite or risk breaking up further into many groups, which in the end will only make the community lose its strength,” The Star quoted S. Samy Vellu, president of MIC, as saying.
“The leadership issue is plaguing the Indian community due to the emergence of small groups representing the community and it must be resolved,” he added.
MIC is the third largest component member in Barisan Nasional that represents the Indian community and Vellu urged Indians to unite under one roof or risk being alienated further.
“It is easy to form political parties and become leaders, but to strive for the well-being of the Indian community is not an easy task,” Vellu said. (ANI)
