Patna, June 19 (ANI): The Bihar Government sources revealed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has returned five crore rupees cheque to Gujarat which was given to the state as part of Kosi flood relief.

Kumar’s action may deepen differences within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Reportedly, Kumar took the decision after some Bihar papers carried advertisements about help rendered by the Gujarat Government prior to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive meeting in Patna on June 12.

Kumar had criticized the Gujarat’s claim that it had liberally donated aid to Bihar during the 2008 Kosi floods.

With Assembly elections to be held later this year, Kumar has made it known that he would not like to be seen with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, and be associated with any move that could anger Muslim voters. (ANI)
