Tourist Facilitation Centre in Kashmir

NOWGAM - The Tourist Facilitation Center (TFC), Nowgam near Srinagar coming up at a cost of Rs. 11.59 crore would be thrown open in July to cater to the large inflow of tourists visiting the region.

The Center, now nearing completion, has been built near the Nowgam railway station and the Srinagar airport.

“The Tourist Facilitation Centre is adjacent to the railway station, which is also under construction. So whenever the train service starts, it will be easier for the tourists who come here,” said Saleem Shishgar, Joint Director Tourism, Kashmir.

Officials say that due to the heavy influx of tourists, the reception center in Srinagar city is inadequate and the new center will be supplementary to the old one.

The Tourist Facilitation Center is being built at a cost of Rs 115.9 million.

The center possess all modern facilities including 48 rooms a food court, coffee shops, a conference hall, restaurant, an information counter, a shopping mall, rock-climbing wall, amusement park and Internet facility.

Residents have welcomed the construction of the center, as they believe that it will bring business opportunities to the area and will also help generate employment. (ANI)
