PATNA - Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has said that wrong socio-economic policies followed by successive central governments have caused a sense of deprivation among a large section of the people who took the path of Maoism to seek justice.

Addressing a public meeting here on Tuesday, Mayawati said: “The governments of all the parties have been biased against scheduled castes, scheduled tribes in particular. That is why these sections of society are still socially and economically backward. Because of this, some people of these sections of societies have resorted to Naxalism.”

She also accused the UPA government for spiralling price rise and inflation.

“The Centre did not appear serious to check inflation as it decided to increase the fuel price knowing fully well its implication on price rise, she added.

She further said her party would contest the coming assembly polls in Bihar and other states on its own.

‘The BSP will contest from all seats (243) without any alliance in the Bihar assembly polls,” she added. (ANI)
