ISLAMABAD - Stop worrying about jobs and your future if you are a son or a daughter of a Pakistani parliamentarian, as the government would itself take care of it by providing you with a best paying plum post.

According to details of the allocations made in the budget for the current fiscal year, the government has created posts of commercial counsellors in countries with negligible commercial ties with Islamabad, and then inducted the sons and daughters of parliamentarians on these posts.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led coalition government has made the biggest allocations for the newly created posts in the latest budget, The News reports.

Insiders said that a daughter of a PML-Q senator, working as a commercial counsellor in Brussels, has received more than 100 per cent pay raise.

It may be noted that Pakistan’s mission in Brussels already has a trade minister and both countries hardly have any trading relations, which clearly shows that appointing a commercial counsellor was nothing but a pure example of high level of nepotism, the report said.

Similarly, Santiago’s commercial section has received 124 per cent budget increase from 12.30 million rupees to 27.50 million rupees, it added.

When enquired about the appointments, Secretary Commerce, Zafar Mehmood, ruled out any special favour being given in the budget to the commercial sections headed by the scions of influential people.

“The budget increase would have been made probably for buying cars and housing units,” Mehmood said. (ANI)
