GULF OF MEXICO (GaeaTimes.com)- After almost two months, B.P. has come up with yet another new plan to minimize the oil spill. Under the pressure of the U.S. government, BP has said that it hopes to increase the collection of oil from 15,000 barrels a day to around 40,000- 53,000 barrels per day. BP has said that under its new plan the company will try to increase the amount to 40,000-53,000 within the end of this month and 60,000-80,000 by mid-July.

BP also plans to replace the containment cap that is allowing a large amount of oil to spill into the Gulf of Mexico. Apart from these, BP is also digging relief wells that they hope will most likely block out the flow of the oil into the gulf permanently. It seems that BP is not in a mood to make any more mistakes and has already decided to bring in more equipment and vessels as back up for the oil capture fearing the bad weather and other unforeseen problems.

The latest plan comes after the company received pressure from the U.S. government. BP took some fast steps to clean up the mess being created by the oil spill. The Coast Guards had recently demanded that the company should speed up their Gulf clean up. However, though BP and the government officials are trying hard to stop the leak that has entered its 56th day, officials are still not sure how much of oil is being leaked every day from the oil well. While the initial reports claimed that the oil well was spilling 20,000 barrels of oil every day, sources now claim that the oil spill ranges from 20,000 to 40,000 barrels per day.
