Police arrest Khalistan Liberation Force militant’s accomplice

AMRITSAR - Punjab Police have nabbed an alleged accomplice of the Khalistan Liberation Force militant here in relation with cellular phone blast incident that occurred in Sultanwind area on May 2.

On Sunday, Police produced Pradeep Singh along with Bakshish Singh before the duty magistrate.

Police claimed that Pradeep has been an accomplice of Bakshish .

Talking to media, Baksheesh denied any connection with Pradeep Singh .

“I don’t know anything about Pradeep. I don’t know from where the police have brought him,” he added.

However, after coming out of the court, Pradeep refused to comment before media.

Police informed that Pradeep was arrested after revelations made during Bakshish’s interrogation.

“These two were produced in the court of Smt. Harjeet Kaur…….Pradeep is his (Baksheesh) accomplice. He has helped Baksheesh in planting bomb. Had they not been nabbed, they would have obviously carried out more blasts,”said Balbir Singh, Station House Officer, Punjab police.

Police have booked Pradeep under Section 3, 4 of Explosives Act, 307 IPC and 17, 18, 19, 20 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967.

On May 2, a watchman was injured after he came across a Cycle bomb.

Pradeep Singh had allegedly arranged a mobile phone, two bottles filled with petrol and one bicycle to carry out that blast, said sources.

Pradeep has been sent into police remand for one day by the district court. However, Baksheesh Singh’s judicial custody has been further extended till June 27.

Talking to ANI, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday ruled out revival of terrorism in the State despite the Punjab Police claim that the arrested terrorists belong to various Khalistani outfits in the border area of Punjab .

The security agencies claimed to have recovered deadly arsenal including RDX and detonators from the arrested persons. Parkash Singh Badal was in the holy city to inaugurate a Hotel “HK Clarks Inn” on Sunday. By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
