JOHANNESBURG - Former President Nelson Mandela’s great granddaughter has been killed in a car crash while returning from a 2010 FIFA World Cup kick-off concert in Soweto.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation was quoted by News 24, as saying that 13-year-old Zenani Mandela, the grandchild of Mandela’s daughter Zindzi, was travelling with Winnie Madikizela-Mandela when their car overturned on the M1 near the Selby off-ramp outside the Johannesburg city centre.

Police have arrested the driver and are making inquiries about possibilities of culpable homicide.

Zenani, who was the eldest child of Zoleka Seakamela, celebrated her 13th birthday on June 9. (ANI)
