KARACHI - At least one person was killed and three others, including a retired police official were injured in a bomb blast that ripped through the main gate of the Pakistan Navy’s staff colony in Baldia town here on Thursday.

According to reports, the bomb was planted on a motorcycle parked under a bridge in front of the naval colony.

Several motorcycles and vehicles parked near the main gate caught fire following the ‘low intensity’ blast, The Nation reports.

Pakistan Navy spokesman Mohammed Salman confirmed the blast, but dismissed the notion that the colony was targeted.

Police and Navy personnel cordoned off the site soon after the blast and a search operation has been launched for suspects.

Meanwhile, security officials have arrested a suspected man from inside the naval colony premises, and are interrogating him. (ANI)
