MALIHABAD - The mango exporters in Uttar Pradesh’s Malihabad Town are a happy lot this season, as good production of ‘Dussehri’ mangoes has led to a sudden increase in the number of export orders.

The exporters are flooded with orders from Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan and are also preparing to fulfill export orders to Europe.

Samples of the Dussehri have received good response from the Arab people, who have placed huge orders for the fruit.

Exporters said they want to create a global market for the Dussehri mangoes just like the popular Alphonso mangoes.

“Actually it could not get introduced. People like it a lot. Middle East has a lot of Indian population and the local Arabs also very fond of it. When it went there 7-8 years ago, it was liked a lot by the local Arabs there,” said Insram Ali, President Mango Grower Association of India.

“Earlier Alphonso from Maharashtra was being sent outside, so people know Alphonso more. This time we are trying to make Dussehri familiar to the world. We are also arranging for a stall for the mango there,” he added.esides making profits this season, the mango growers are hoping that the Dussehri mangoes become popular in all parts of the world.

“We don’t get the worth of our toil from the fruit markets here, so we will get more benefit from the Dusseheri exports. Also the quality of Dusseheri mangoes has not been recognized by the world,” said Husnain Ali, Mango Exporter from Malihabad.

“So much that people in India or Chennai also don’t know about it. So now people will start knowing about it,” he added. (ANI)
