Ahmedabad students vandalise college property

AHMEDABAD - The students of Ahmedabad’s Sahjanand College vandalized the college property here on Tuesday to protest the against the management’s decision not to admit students from Gujarati medium schools.

The college wants to admit only those students who have studied in English medium schools.

Hemendra Baghdi, the leader of the Student’s Association went to talk to the college management but when the management refused to talk, the students started breaking glass windows and furniture of the college.

Baghdi said Gujarat Chief Minister had talked about Golden Gujarat, while on the other hand; the college management is more interested in English-medium schools.

“The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi talks about Golden Gujarat, however, the management of the Sahjanand College is insulting Gujarati language by closing down the Gujarati medium,” said Baghdi.

The police later baton charged the protesting students and arrested about 14 of them. (ANI)
