Honolulu Star-Advertiser publishes first issue
HONOLULU — The inaugural edition of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser has arrived.
The Star-Advertiser launched Monday as the lone major daily in Honolulu and the largest newspaper in Hawaii. The owner of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin bought The Honolulu Advertiser and has merged the two papers.
Former Star-Bulletin employees welcomed former Advertiser journalists to their newsroom near downtown. Editor Frank Bridgewater says his team is trying to find chairs and computers for the 28 former Advertiser journalists joining them.
Former Advertiser reporters say they’re grateful for the warm welcome from their new colleagues and former competitors.
