TEL AVIV/LARNACA - The Israeli Navy intercepted a ship early Saturday headed for the Gaza Strip carrying aid and pro-Palestinian activists, organisers of the voyage said.

It was unclear, however, whether the ship has been boarded and the passengers arrested.

A spokesman for the Free Gaza organisation said three Israeli Navy vessels began shadowing the “Rachel Corrie” when it was about 60 km from the strip.

An Israeli military spokesman in Tel Aviv said he had no information on the interception of the aid ship.
