Become a terrorist in Pak and walk away scot-free in absence of official proof

PESHAWAR - Besides illiteracy and poverty being some of the reasons behind young unemployed Pak youths falling prey to rabid Islamists’ brainwashing into terror, it seems the near absence of convictions in the absence of proof, could be another one.
In yet another incident where terrorists have been set free due to lack of evidence in Pakistan, a local court here has acquitted four terror suspects after the prosecution failed to prove their involvement in blowing up of three government schools in the Nowshera District of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province (formerly the North West Frontier Province).
Security officials had arrested four persons for destroying three schools, including a girls’ school, in February, but the anti-terrorism court in Peshawar dismissed the case against all four accused, saying there is not enough evidence to prove their involvement in the destruction of the school buildings.
It is pertinent to mention that due to lack of evidence against arrested terror suspects, dozens have succeeded in getting bail from the Peshawar High Court in the last two months.
Similarly, several terror suspects have also been acquitted in the recent past, as authorities have failed to substantiate cases against them with proper evidence, The Daily Times reports. (ANI)
