ISLAMABAD - Expressing concerns over the ever expanding terror menace in South Punjab, Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has warned that the Punjab Taliban was preparing to launch a massive attack in the country.
Briefing the Senate’s Standing Committee, Malik said the Punjab based Taliban may target important installations across the country in the coming days.
“The Punjabi Taliban are a big threat to the country and they are preparing to launch a major attack,” The Dawn quoted Malik, as saying.
He also told the committee that the recent terror strikes in Lahore, the Mariott Hotel bombing and the attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) were all carried out by the banned extremist outfit, Laskhar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ).
Malik said that the federal government has directed the Punjab government to take firm action against the terror groups operating from the region. (ANI)
