ISLAMABAD - The fate of Pakistani neuroscientist with alleged Al Qaeda links, Dr Aafia Siddiqui will take a while to be sealed, as the matter was still sub-judice said US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W Patterson.

“Dr Siddiqui has not yet been sentenced and also has the right to appeal her conviction - so the US legal process is not yet concluded,” the US ambassador said during a meeting with Foreign Affairs Secretary Salman Bashir, the Daily Times reports.

She also urged the Pakistani Foreign Affairs Ministry to speed up the process of issuing travel documents to around 300 Pakistani nationals who have been stranded on the US and cannot return home till they are issued the documents or passports.

Patterson said that most of these people are facing legal proceedings and deportation orders for overstaying in the US. (ANI)
