Older women more likely to recycle goods

LONDON - Older, married women place a higher premium on the habit of recycling, than men and youngsters, a poll has revealed.
More than 40 percent of women rated their recycling bin higher in importance than the microwave, vacuum cleaner or even Tupperware as the most useful household item.
In contrast, only 33 percent men thought the recycling bin was handier than the screwdriver and remote control.
According to The Telegraph, the survey also suggests older people recycle more.
Over half of the 65 plus age group voted the recycling bin as an essential item in the house, compared to a third of 25 to 44 year olds.
“It is about responsibility to the planet and the next generation which comes with being a mother,” the paper quoted Sorella le Var of the Women’s Institute, as saying.
Married couples seem to be more likely to recycle compared to singles, according to the survey by the Swedish firm Clas Ohlson that is introducing recycling bins in Britain. (ANI)
