Maoists blow up panchayat office in Orissa

MALKANGIRI -Maoists on Sunday blew up a village panchayat office building and a godown in Orissa’s Malkangiri district.

The Maoists set off an explosion, destroying the panchayat office and a nearby godown building.

Reportedly, the Maoists act came in an apparent attempt to prevent security personnel from camping in those building.

According to police a team of 50 Maoists attacked Kangurukunda village at Kalimela block of the District.

Kangurukunda is over 40 kilometers from Malkangiri.

This was the third panchayat office building blown up by the Maoists in the Kalimela area in the last 45 days.

Earlier, Panchayat offices at Telrai and Badigata had earlier been targeted by the Maoists. (ANI)
