Railways cancel four trains after Gyaneshwari Express mishap

KOLKATA - In the wake of blast and collision of the Mumbai bound Gyaneshwari Express in West Midnapore District, the South Eastern Railway on Friday cancelled four trains and diverted several other trians.

Four trains have been cancelled, as trains were not running between Howrah-Tatanagar after the Howrah-Kurla Gyaneswari Express derailed after a blast.

The railways also diverted the routes of several trains, including the Hapa-Howrah Express, Azad Hind Express, Koraput- Howrah Express, Ranchi Hatia Express, Mumbai mail via Nagpur.

Meanwhile, the railways has ordered an investigation into the incident.

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee told reporters here that she would write to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to initiate a separate investigation into the tragedy.

Maoists blasted rail tracks in West Midnapore District in the wee hours of Friday, derailing 13 coaches of a Mumbai-bound express train.

Five bogies were hit by a goods train, leaving at least 65 dead and over 150 injured.

4. Porbander-Howrah Express -via Tatanagar

5. Pune-Howrah Express via Tatanagar

6. Chatrapti Shivaji Terminus Mumbai -Howrah Express

7. Hapa-Howrah Express

8. Azad Hind Express

9. Koraput- Howrah Express
