PESHAWAR - A Pakistani transgender Kashif alias Rani, who was arrested and sent to police custody by a local court here for allegedly trying to marry a man, has wished for more suicide attacks on police and security officials for troubling people.
“I pray there should be more suicide attacks on police because they put people in trouble unnecessarily,” said Rani, who was arrested in a midnight raid along with one Malik Iqbal Khan, when they were reportedly readying to exchange marital vows.
Over 43 guests, who had come to celebrate the marriage, were also arrested during the raid.
“All of them have been remanded in custody for a day on charges of attending an “illegal” event,” The Daily Times quoted Judicial Magistrate Syed Shaukatullah Shah, as saying.
However, Khan, who already has two wives, has denied that he was marrying Rani, and said the police mistook a birthday party for marriage.
“It was only a birthday party for Rani, but police arrested us. We had no intention of getting married,” Khan said. (ANI)
