AHMEDABAD - Resident of Ahmedabad are having a tough time with temperatures soaring over 45 degree Celsius, with hundreds of people falling sick due to the heat and being admitted in various hospitals across the city.

Reportedly most of the people who suffer from diabetes and high blood pressure are the main victims.

“Around 350 patients have been admitted till now because of heat wave and around 20 people have died. Mainly those people suffering from diabetes and blood pressure are the victims because rise in the mercury increases their blood flow to the brain,” said Mayur Dave, Committee Member of Vadilal Sarabhai Hospital.

Doctors are using plenty of ice for treatment, which has led to the recovery of patients.

Usually, till the onset of the monsoon, the months of May-June are the hottest in the country with the temperatures often in the range of 40 to 45 degrees Celsius at many places.

However, this year the mercury shot beyond the 40 degree mark in April itself, portending extreme temperatures ahead. (ANI)
