Suspected Maoist informers arrested in Chhattisgarh

BIJAPUR - The police arrested two suspected Maoists during a raid in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur District on Friday.

The suspects Vijja and Sukku, who are around 25 years of age, have been charged with offences like planting bombs and murder.

The police was trailing the suspects for past many days, said an official.

“We raided the place and have arrested Vijja who has a warrant issued in his name and is already accused of seven charges,” said Ashok Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The duo is at present under police custody following a court’s order.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Chhattisgarh police arrested nine Maoists in Narayanpur district.

Chhattisgarh state has been a hot bed of Maoist activities in the recent past.even personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed when suspected Maoist guerrillas triggered a landmine blowing up a convoy in Bijapur district of the state on May 8. (ANI)
