KABUL - Five British troops were injured when their helicopter was forced to crash-land after being shot by a Taliban rocket.
According to reports, a rocket propelled grenade struck the Sea King as it came in to land at a checkpoint in Afghanistan.
A source said that the five soldiers suffered “fragmentation wounds, but no life changing injuries.
“The pilot did extremely well to bring the craft down. The helicopter was close enough to the ground to crash land relatively safely,” The Sun quoted the source, as saying.
“It could have been a lot worse. Luckily it wasn’t the middle of nowhere,” the source added.
The helicopter was being used for transporting gear and troops and was on a routine mission when it was attacked.
Experts are assessing the damage to the Sea King. (ANI)
