KABUL - Afghan Police on Saturday discovered a huge cache of rockets on the outskirts of Kabul, which they said were to be used to disturb a jirga next week.
The Dawn quoted Kabul Police chief Abdul Rahman Rahman as saying that elements were paid to relocate these rockets.
He said that the intelligence gathered so far had revealed that around 20 million Pakistan rupees was promised to those who undertook the launching.
Insurgents are known to favour using rockets because they can be fired from distances of up to 20 kms (12 miles) from their target.
Afghanistan is holding a jirga on May 29, where thousands of community elders and Afghan officials will try to find ways to convince Taliban insurgents to enter into peace talks. (ANI)
