Kolkata exhibition highlights global warming’s impact on nature

KOLKATA - An art exhibition here is drawing public attention towards the grave threat posed by global warming to the nature.

Organised at Gallery Sanskriti, the ongoing exhibition titled ‘Nature Revisited’ is an attempt by a group of 11 artistes to raise concern about global warming presented through a special collection of paintings and art works.

“Nature Revisited essentially was born out of an idea to represent how nature is seen by various artistes working within contemporary art. There are some very pressing issues like global warming, ecological crisis and rapid urbanization, which are all impacting upon the way artists look at nature and how they consider nature,” said Anirudh Chari, exhibition curator.

Besides, the exhibiton also shows the threat to nature by climate change, ecological crisis and urbanization.

“I have done a cocoon, where abnormally cracking and all kinds of insects are gathered over here. I have conveyed that something that we are experiencing is not normal, which, in our earlier days, we didn’t experience,” said Jayashree Chakraborty, exhibition curator and an artiste.

The exhibition that commenced on April 21 will last till June 1. By Ajitha Menon (ANI)
