ISLAMABAD - Fashion industry seems to be steadily gaining foothold in Pakistan, with the Pakistan Fashion Forum launching its official platform, the Pakistan Fashion Lounge, in Lahore.

The designers, registered under the Karachi Fashion Council, have been signed up to showcase their creativity at the Fashion Lounge.

Designers including Ather and Sabeen, Maheen Khan, Samar Mehdi, Shamaeel Ansari, Sanam Chaudhri, Mahin Hussain, Mahin - Erum, Monica Couture, Tia Noon, Aiesha Varsey, FNK Asia, 11/27 by Collection R, Hoorain, Satrangi, Saira Zia and Adeela Mumtaz had their collections on display at the launching ceremony.

“All new designers will be given an opportunity to display their outfits at the lounge after the fulfilment of a certain criteria… the lounge will showcase outfits not only from Karachi-based designers but also those from Lahore. The only condition is they need to be registered with either the Karachi or Lahore Fashion Council,” the Daily Times quoted Fashion Pakistan Lounge Manager Rima Farid, as saying.

Farid added that the designers had not been charged anything for displaying their outfits.

Amir Mazhar, who had organised the event, believes the fashion industry in Pakistan has good future.

He said: “The opening of such outlets will not only cater to the needs of fashion enthusiasts but also give new designers the chance to display their talent.” (ANI)
