Teens carrying pellet rifles cause school scare
GRAHAM, Wash. — A half-dozen teens carrying realistic-looking Airsoft rifles caused a scare at a Washington state elementary school.
The Pierce County sheriff’s department says it received numerous calls, including one from a teacher, about armed teens on the grounds of Graham Elementary School at about 4 p.m. on Friday.
Deputies detained six youths and recovered seven of the pellet rifles. No one was injured. It wasn’t immediately clear why the young people were carrying the rifles.
Classes were over for the day but a few teachers and students were still on campus for after-school programs.
