Arizona couple allegedly planned to sell child
PHOENIX — A protective order has been filed after authorities say an Arizona couple arranged to sell their unborn child in Utah.
The medical staff at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center noticed the Mesa couple in the facility Saturday night and notified authorities.
The couple has not been arrested or charged, but a Utah judge granted a protective order last week on behalf of the child.
Under Utah law, the Department of Child and Family Services is not allowed to get involved until the baby is born and protective needs are identified.
Authorities say the couple has three other children in foster care in Arizona. A hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday to address the matter in the Salt Lake City Courts.
