NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- The RFK Bridge in New York City had to be closed in every directions for some hours on Wednesday and the bomb squad of the New York Police Department had to be called in. This happened after a person left a U-Haul truck on the bridge and it smelt of gasoline. The cops reported that the driver fled from the spot and he had a white bag with him. The man could not be located but the search is still on. The motive behind his act is yet to be traced. The incident raised an alarm and the police tried to ensure if the truck contained any bomb or explosive.

The bomb squad of the New York Police Department went up to the abandoned truck at the bridge but they could not locate any bomb in it. Later the bridge was thrown open to the public. The truck approached the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge also known as the Triborough Bridge from Bronx. It possibly came through the Bruckner Expressway. The driver stopped it when he was about 100 yards from the toll plaza and ran in the opposite direction. Workers who came to the truck later smelt gasoline and they got suspicious naturally. The NYPD bomb squad resorted to X-ray equipment to detect the contents of the truck.

The fire department was also informed to evade any possibility of an accident. The closure of the RFK Bridge led to major traffic snarls that inconvenienced the commuters a lot. The security in the area was beefed up following the incident.
