LA prosecutors seek millions from giant sign firms
LOS ANGELES — Prosecutors in Los Angeles are seeking millions in penalties from an outdoor advertising company accused of posting illegal giant billboards on four office buildings.
The city attorney’s office alleges in the complaint filed this week that Vanguard Outdoor LLC and several sign installers and property owners violated a city ban on so-called supergraphic signs.
The complaint seeks the signs’ removal and an injunction prohibiting more, along with penalties that prosecutors say could amount to millions of dollars.
Vanguard owner Pamela Anderson had no immediate comment.
The complaint is the latest in a string of legal actions by city prosecutors against what they characterize as illegal and dangerous signs.
