Car plows into Ohio marching band; 3 students hurt
CLEVELAND — A teenager is in critical condition after a car plowed into a high school band about to march in a parade in Cleveland.
The accident Sunday afternoon injured two other students and a band member’s mother. Witnesses say the 67-year-old driver was pulling into a handicapped-parking spot when the car jumped the curb and hit the students from James Ford Rhodes High School.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center says 17-year-old Justin Otis is in critical condition. Witnesses say he was dragged about 10 feet before the car stopped.
Cleveland Congressman Dennis Kucinich (koo-SIN’-ich) was nearby to take part in the parade and says he saw the boy pinned by the car.
