Bridges TV survives crime of NY founder’s death

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Bridges TV was created because of Muslim stereotypes. It could have been done in by one.

The man who created the station with his wife to counter negative Muslim images was charged with decapitating her last year.

The English-language channel headquartered near Buffalo, N.Y., faded to black. But not for long.

Bridges has settled into a smaller, more focused operation. The new general manager says the station with its mix of political discussion, sports, cooking and news is carried in 4 million households in two dozen markets, including Los Angeles, Washington, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Dallas.

Pretrial proceedings continue Tuesday for Muzzammil Hassan (moo-ZAHM’-mel HAH’-sahn), charged in the death of his wife, Aasiya (AH’-see-ya).
