Peshawar, May.2 (ANI): Afghan Taliban chieftain Mullah Muhammad Omar has reportedly sent a jirga to negotiate the safe release of kidnapped former Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) officials Colonel Imam, who was abducted along with his killed former colleague Khalid Khwaja.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Javed Pracha claimed that a jirga sent by Mullah Omar has reached Miranshah to hold talks with the kidnappers without any preconditions, The Daily Times reports.
It is worth mentioning here that the Asian Tigers, the group which has claimed to have kidnapped both Imam, Khwaja and a British journalist of Pakistan origin Assad Qureshi, had asked Pracha to negotiate with the government.
The Asian Tigers had demanded of release of some of the top Afghan Taliban commanders, including second-in command Mullah Ghani Baradar and Mansoor Dadullah.
Last week, Khwaja’s bullet riddled body was found from Mir Ali region of North Waziristan, who along with Colonel Imam and Qureshi was kidnapped from the region in March. (ANI)
