Computer-security event seeks to spur int’l talks
SAN FRANCISCO — It’s a challenge getting government officials around the world together to discuss shared threats such as cybercrime. Officials can be guarded and suspicious when their counterparts in another country reach out to them.
So the idea behind an international security conference in Dallas this week is to get government officials and industry executives and other parties talking, informally, about where they might find common ground.
By contrast, the focus of other big security conferences has been on hackers showing off their latest research or on security-technology vendors connecting with customers.
More than 400 government officials and industry executives from 30 countries are expected to attend the Worldwide Cybersecurity Summit, starting Monday.
