Infiltration bid foiled by security forces in Jammu

SAMBA - The Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday foiled a major infiltration bid after a fierce gunbattle with militants at Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.

According to sources, the personnel of 59 battalion picked up movement of a large group of armed militants near Ballard forward post in Ramgarh sub-sector, about 50 kms from Jammu.

The militants opened fire on the post following which BSF and patrolling parties retaliated.

Later, militants managed to escape. A search operation has been launched in the area.

On Friday, the Army foiled an infiltration bid from across the border by killing three militants in Kupwara District.

According to sources, heavily armed militants entered the Machhal sector, 150 km from Srinagar but were confronted by alert troops.

The militants were killed in retaliatory action. (ANI)
