Two militants killed in Punjab encounter

Gurdaspur (Punjab), Apr 25 (ANI): Four people,including two militants were killed in an encounter in Punjab’s Gurdaspur District on Sunday morning.

Security forces also lost two of their men in the encounter.

According to the officials, the encounter took place near Ratarwan village under Narot Jaimal Singh Police Station area.

Ratarwan is over 50 kilometres from Pathankot, one of the main centres of the Army.

On Friday night, a couple of the villagers informed the local police that two armed men have barged into their house and asked the way for the main road.

On Saturday, based on the information police launched an operation to track down the militants.

Briefing the media over the incident, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Border Range, I P S Sahota said one militant was killed and his accomplice was injured in the encounter in which two policemen also died.

But sources claimed that two ultras were killed in the Gurudaspur encounter. (ANI)
