Jordan investigating possible rocket attack

AMMAN, Jordan — A senior Jordanian security official says police are investigating a possible rocket attack that damaged a cooling storage house in the Red Sea port of Aqaba.

The official declined to provide other details and spoke on condition of anonymity while the investigation is ongoing.

Government spokesman Nabil Sharif said a loud explosion at the warehouse in Aqaba early Thursday caused material damage but no deaths.

Aqaba is 350 kilometers (210 miles) south of the Jordanian capital.

Israeli media reported two rocket attacks hit Aqaba and Israel’s nearby port Eilat.

The Israeli army says it searched the Eilat area after hearing the reports but found no evidence of anything landing in Israel.
