Jayhawks’ debut LP to be released on CD
MINNEAPOLIS — The Jayhawks’ debut album finally will be available on CD — nearly 25 years after it was released.
Fans know the Minneapolis band’s self-titled debut as “The Bunkhouse Album,” since it was first released by Bunkhouse Records in 1986. Only 2,000 vinyl copies were originally pressed.
Now, Lost Highway Records will release “The Jayhawks” on CD and vinyl on May 18.
The reissue includes all 13 tracks on the original release. It also includes an eight-page booklet with new photos from the recording period and a new essay by Jayhawks co-founder Mark Olson.
The Jayhawks began playing in 1985 and are credited with helping invent alt-country. The band reformed with Olson and co-leader Gary Louris in the lineup for a Minneapolis concert last summer.
