Ohio executes man who strangled teen girl in 1988
LUCASVILLE, Ohio — Ohio has executed a serial rapist convicted of strangling a 16-year-old girl in 1988.
Darryl Durr recently claimed he could suffer an allergic reaction to the state’s lethal injection drug, but there was no initial word of any complications. He was pronounced dead at 10:36 a.m. Tuesday at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville.
The 46-year-old was convicted of kidnapping Angel Vincent from her home in Elyria on Jan. 31, 1988, while her parents were away at a Super Bowl party. Prosecutors say he raped and strangled her with a dog chain and hid her body inside two traffic barrels placed end-to-end in a park.
Durr was the fourth inmate executed in Ohio this year.
