Prince William to join RAF search-and-rescue unit
LONDON — Britain’s Prince William could soon be part of the Royal Air Force’s search-and-rescue operations in Wales.
The 27-year-old prince will be posted to the RAF’s base in Anglesey, Wales, if he completes his pilot training. His London office said Thursday that he would take up his duties in September, if he successfully completes his course.
William, who is second in line to the throne, would be flying Sea King helicopters as part of 22 Squadron, one of Britain’s six search and rescue units. He is currently in training at the base.
The base is located about 220 miles (350 kilometers) west of London, on the Irish Sea.
