KOLKATA - Demanding the immediate release of persons arrested in connection with hospital vandalism, locals blocked road and burnt tyres in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Protestors alleged that police raided houses and arrested some persons on suspicion of being involved in the hospital vandalism on Tuesday.

“At night, police came and took away around 20-40 people. So we are saying as police release our men we will remove the blockade.” Kartik Tarafdar, a protestor, said. Later police broke the barricades.

An angry mob of around 200 people ransacked the Peerless Hospital on Tuesday accusing it of refusing to treat accident victims. The mob set afire furniture, medical equipment, including stretchers, and even manhandled the hospital staffs. (ANI)
