Jharkhand Police being trained to counter Maoist attacks

RANCHI - In the wake of Maoist massacre in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada District, the Jharkhand police personnel at the BARIATU firing range here are being given special arms-training exercise to counter the attacks by the rebels in the future.

The officers in charge of all the 131 police stations located in the Maoist belt in Jharkhand are being trained with the state-of-the-art weaponry.t has been reported that the officers are also given training to anlayse intelligence inputs.

Sources said the training in specialized weapons is being given following reports that the Maoists responsible for the Dantewada massacre were carrying Light Machine Guns (LMGs) mostly used by US Marines.

Seventy-six Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed by the Maoists in an ambush in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada District on Tuesday, which is considered to be the most brutal attack ever by the rebels. (ANI)
