Government working hard on Food Security Bill: Pranab Mukherjee

KOLKATA - Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday said the Food Security Bill would be placed in the Parliament after reckoning comments from various sources and quarters.

“This is Food Security Bill. We the group of the ministers discussed about it. After that it was discussed at a core committee of the chief ministers’ meeting, the core committee of 10 chief ministers,” said Mukherjee at a function hosted by the government-owned Corporation Bank at Kolkata.

“After that, we will release the Bill on the web sites of the Finance Ministry. We will invite comments from informed sources after that. There after considering all aspects, we will bring the Bill for approval in parliament,” he added.

Mukherjee further said the government is working to have a legislation to ensure the Right to Food for all Indians. (ANI)
