Darts fail to sedate beached humpback whale in NY

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. — A beached humpback whale is clinging to life in New York after two attempts to sedate it failed.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says it’s looking at options to aid the dying animal Thursday on Long Island. Two darts have failed to sedate it for euthanization.

The young whale was found stranded Tuesday at the beach in East Hampton.
