38 killed in five blasts near U.S. consulate in Pakistan

PESHAWAR - At least 38 people were killed and eight others injured after a series of blasts rocked area near the U.S. consulate in Pakistani’s Peshawar city on Monday.
According to reports, five blasts took place within 20 minutes near the U.S. consulate situated on Khyber Road in the Saddar area of Peshawar.
Thick smoke was seen arising over the area and several buildings, including the consulate, have been severely damaged, The BBC reports.
Police has cordoned off the area, as heavy fire was being exchanged between the security personnel and the attackers till the last reports came in.
Bomb disposal squad and relief teams have also been rushed to the blast site.
Police patrolling has also been intensified and a tight vigil is being maintained on all check posts and entry and exit points of the city. (ANI)
