Fire above Minneapolis pub kills 3 adults, 3 kids
MINNEAPOLIS — Relatives and friends say the six people they believe died in a Minneapolis fire had perished because of a stroke of terrible luck.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner named 43-year-old Ann Gervais on Saturday as one of the six victims. The examiner’s office hasn’t named the others who died. But friends and family fear the remaining victims were a bartender and several of his girlfriend’s relatives.
They say Gervais and the relatives were struggling to make ends meet and moving from place to place. They also say the relatives only planned to stay with the bartender for one night.
The blaze broke out early Friday morning in a building that housed an Irish pub and six apartments. Police and fire officials are still investigating the cause.
