Robbers hit 2 trains moving across No. Ariz.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Arizona officials say modern-day train robbers tried a pair of hijackings, seeking TVs and computer gear.

They say two Mexican nationals have been arrested for allegedly trying to disable freight trains moving through the Flagstaff area.

BNSF spokeswoman Lena Kent said the first burglary was reported Friday near Williams, where crooks cut the brake hoses on a train to disable it and offload a shipment of televisions. They were caught in the act, but all except one got away.

The second burglary was reported near Winona east of Flagstaff. Again, brake hoses were cut on a BNSF train. This time, burglars wanted computer equipment from a train car.
