PATNA - A massive fire destroyed hundred of settlements in Patna’s Kaushal Nagar area on Wednesday.

Helpless resident tried to douse the fire from engulfing their homes but all in vain, as the fire spread all around destroying so many huts.

Babita Devi, an eyewitness, apprehended that some family must not have put out the wood-fired stove after cooking food and left the place resulting in the hut catching fire and spreading to other shanties.

“They (the residents), who went after cooking the food, must have left the stove (using wood as fuel) burning. The stove probably was close to the wall of the hut consequently the caught fire. The fire was so severe that the trees, under which the huts were built, were destroyed by it. There has been no help from the administration so far,” said Babita Devi.

Another eyewitness Mala Devi mentioned that it was the locals who helped to douse the fire.

“Over 100 to 150 huts have been gutted in this massive fire and as you can see everything has been destroyed. Government is not reacting. Instead we are filling the buckets of water and dousing the fire,” said Mala Devi. (ANI)
