Clarification: Nielsen story

NEW YORK — In a March 23 story, The Associated Press reported that the first two episodes of the Discovery Channel’s “Life” series had 11.8 million and 11.5 million viewers, respectively. Those Nielsen Co. figures, provided by Discovery, measure how many people tune in to each program at least briefly while it is on. The industry standard, however, measures how many people are watching during an average minute. Those figures have “Life” with 6.13 million viewers for the first episode and 5.88 million viewers for the second episode.
