MADRID, SPAIN (GaeaTimes.com)- The Canary Islands‘ Cocodrilos Park zoo had to lose three tigers on Tuesday. Three tigers of the zoo who had escaped were gunned down by the Civil Guard Police on Tuesday only. According to reports the officials of the Canary Islands zoo have declared to the media that nobody was injured on Tuesday due to the incident.

According to the official of the Canary Islands‘ zoo the tigers came out of the cage on Tuesday when a cleaning employee who was cleansing out side the tiger’s cage accidentally switched on the button which led to the opening of the cage door. The tiger’s cage contained seven tigers reportedly of which only three went out. The other four remained inside the cage and were locked immediately. Civil Guard Police acted immediately after they were informed by the officials and tracked the three tigers. The tigers were gunned down by the police so that they could not harm the civilians.

According to the officials of the zoo, when the incident occurred there were no visitors to the Canary Islands’ zoo present. Apart from the cleaning employee who had accidentally pressed the button and was in proximity of the cage no one else was near the cage. However, the employee was not harmed by the tigers and remains unscathed. According to reports a similar incident occurred on February this year when a 19-year-old female gorilla escaped from a Dallas zoo when the cleaning staff accidentally kept the door of the cage open thinking it to be empty.
